CCM Tacks AS-V Pro Junior Hockey Shin Guards

CCM returns in 2022 with some ambitious changes and upgrades to their Tacks line of protectives. The AS-V Pro shin guards are equipped with a new Anatomical Shield Design, D3O foam, ADPTFit strappings, and a JDP kneecap design. CCM took a different approach with their shin guard design at their highest price point, aiming to accommodate most players’ equipment preferences while also keeping them fully protected.

Shin Protection
The shin cap has been made of tough PE plastic and engineered with an Anatomical Shield Design for max coverage and comfort. To combat wear and tear that tends to occur near the bottom of the pad, CCM also implemented an abrasion-resistant bottom pad, reinforced with D3O foam. The pad and D3O ensure not just more durability in that area, but also more security near your ankles. In addition, underneath the kneecap is a groove fit for your tape.

Knee Cap & Protection
The knee area uses a JDP kneecap design and a protective comfort donut on the inside to keep your knees secure while you play. These features both enhance protection and keep everything in place. The JDP design specifically disperses impact force away from the knee. The comfort donut on the inside liner provides supplemental space for your knee and keeps it further away from the impact point while simultaneously holding everything in place.

Calf Protection
The AS-V Pro is equipped with a shot block shield coupled with D3O foam that wraps snugly around the calf to absorb and disperse force on impact. There is often not enough padding here on most gear, and adding extra padding can sometimes hinder movement. On the AS-V Pro, however, they have added a calf shield with a rounded anatomical shape to wrap seamlessly around your leg. Combined with the soft cushioning and liner on the inside, the shield can further mold nicely around your leg.

Liner
One of the biggest upgrades made in CCM’s top-of-the-line Tacks shin guards is in the functionality of the liner. Shin guards traditionally allow you to take out and adjust the liner on the inside, but doing so could lower both the protection and comfort of the pads. On the AS-V Pro, the liner is built into the pad and can be adjusted to protect you wherever your knee is situated, and whether you like to tuck your skate tongues in or let them flop out.

Strapping
The pads come with a fully adjustable dual calf strap and a Hyper X lock strap for a perfect, snug fit around your shins. The double strap is designed to contour around your calf comfortably, and the length can be adjusted in both directions depending on your preferences. The Hyper X lock strap is made with a high-tensile nylon weave for superior durability.

Sizes
The Tacks AS-V Pro Junior shin guards come in 12” and 13” sizes. Larger sizes are available in Senior size.
